Nashoba Knocks off the Undefeated WHS Boys’ Soccer Team

By Stephen Geller

On Thursday, September 30, 2010, the boys’ varsity soccer team suffered their first loss of the season in a neck and neck battle against the Nashoba Chieftains.

After a Nashoba defender headed the ball into the net on a corner kick midway through the second half, the Chieftains took a 1-0 lead.

The Rangers fought hard late in the game in attempt to earn an equalizer, but the Nashoba defense was too solid. Overall, the team played very well, but simply didn’t capitalize on their many scoring opportunities.

Senior Jack Tragakis, Westborough’s goalie, had an exceptional game. He tallied up a number of impressive saves which kept the Rangers in the game.

With the defeat, the boy’s varsity soccer team’s record is now 4-1-2. The Rangers look to bounce back from the loss on Friday, October 1 in their game against Ludlow, at Ludlow High school.
