Gun goes off as Boys’ Cross Country starts a New Season

By:  Andrew Lampi

“If the guys work hard this season we have a good shot at another district title,” quips top runner junior Brendan Robertson.

After an undefeated season last year that led the Westborough High School Boys’ Cross Country team to their first League Title in 43 years and their first ever District Title, the team is ready to go for their second consecutive set of titles.

Even though the team lost key players such as Byron Jones and Jeffrey Bush, some upperclassmen have filled their shoes quite well. The team is led by Head Coach Rick Hebert and Assistant Coach Jeremy Nute, as well as senior Captains P.J. Cassello, Logan Scharen, and Zach Polich.

Even though the team lost their home and season opener to friendly rival Nashoba on September 7th, the team is still hopeful as they look ahead to a battle of the ages in the league and district meets.
