Too many Comedians in “Grown Ups”

Too many Comedians in “Grown Ups”

By: Ali Strand

The movie “Grown Ups” directed by Dennis Dugan is the story of five childhood friends who are reunited  years later due to the unexpected death of a beloved basketball coach.

Now that they’re all “Grown Up” with kids of their own, they return to their childhood summer lake house to share their memories with their families.  However, they run into their old rival whose out for revenge.

The film was expected to be a hilarious story starring  well known comedians: Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, and Rob Schneider. However, it seems the humor of so many entertaining people canceled each other out.

The few good jokes was not only absurd, but they were expected, as they had already been displayed in the trailers for the movie.

Also, the movie ran relatively short as it was just over an hour and a half. However that being said, about 30 minutes of the movie could have been easily cut out.

Every scene had a short clip of something completely random. Were the clips time fillers or did the director just want to create drama? Either way, the movie didn’t flow. Therefore, if your weekend plans included seeing “Grown Ups” change them; once you’ve seen the trailers, you’ve seen the movie.

Yeah Most of the funny parts were in the trailer , you would wait for them the whole time.

It’s worth noting that part of this movie was shot in Southborough, at the intersection of Rte 30 and Rte 85. You might remember it. I think it was called Lakeville at the time.
