WHS Boys’ Soccer Hopes to "Head" Their Way to Play Offs

Led by Coach Dominique Trotin, the Boy’s Varsity soccer team hopes to have a successful season. After winning eleven games and only losing two, the players this year, are striving to do even better. The team will move on after losing important players such as David Harpin, the Banavali brothers, Rajiv and Sanjiv, and Jared Horvitz. To their advantage, this season the soccer team is lead by Senior Captains Stephen Geller, Brian Goodliffe, and Connor Gibbs. As Geller states, “The team has a good amount of varsity level experience. We’ve got a solid core group of seniors that have been playing with each other for a long time.” These seniors include the three captains, Antony Macario, Doug West, Matt Hally, Cam Houghton, and Shane Ruffing. The team’s rivals are Algonquin, Marlborough, and Groton Dunstable. Since the team is made up of mainly seniors, the elders are hoping the underclassmen can catch up to pace. “A lot of pressure is being put on the young sophomores and juniors as well, so as long as we put in the work at practice and gain trust with each other as a team, we should have one of the best seasons this high school has ever seen.” With tough competition and long days of practice, the team can only hope they will succeed in winning a title.
