A Shout-out to Mr. Cullen

Mr. Cullen, a History and Psychology teacher at Westborough High School didn’t always want to become a teacher. In fact he admits he “didn’t know what he wanted to be, just not a teacher”.

Interestingly, Mr. Cullen is an alum of WHS. He participated in sports as he was offensive left tackle for the football team and threw shot put and discus for the track team.

After high school, Mr. Cullen went on to a preparatory year at the Naval Academy in Newport, Rhode Island. At the Academy, Mr. Cullen says he was able to grow and have another year to decide what he wanted to do. He then went on to earn a degree in Psychology from Worcester State. He later earned another degree in History from the University of Prince Edward Island.

Mr. Cullen has taken his experience with football and is now a football coach at Worcester State College. And next year he will be seen on the WHS turf as part of the Westborough Rangers football coaching staff.

Mr. Cullen says he likes to spend his free time outdoors, hiking and walking his dog, a Jack Russell Terrier. Though Mr. Cullen has grown up in Westborough, he has been to many interesting places such as Spain, France, Italy, and Mexico. In the future, Cullen hopes to take a trip to Germany and Australia. And like most New Englanders, Mr. Cullen has always been a Red Sox fan, but calls himself a “Bandwagon Pats Fan”.

This school year, Mr. Cullen has been relying on having minimal snow days because he is getting married early this summer.

And lastly, for those of you who may have Mr. Cullen next year, look forward to his daily shout outs (oh, and never ask “did we do anything?” if you happen to be absent).
