Coming off of a 8-9-3 season, the Westborough Rangers hockey team is getting ready for the 2018 season. Senior captains Vincent Pascale, Kevin Flahive and Will Schiffman are looking forward to a new season and hopefully making another playoff appearance for the second year in a row.

After a tough loss in the playoffs to Auburn last year, the Rangers are planning on working hard to defend their league championship title. Since the team only lost three starting players, most of the team will be returning to the rink to compete together again this year.

Captains Vincent Pascale, Kevin Flahive and Will Schiffman are looking forward to leading the team this year in their final season. Pascale said, “I’m just excited to get back on the ice for one more season. I know that all of our returning players have just been getting better all this offseason, and I feel that will show on the ice when the season starts.”

This team is very sophomore heavy, consisting of sophomores Cam Sullivan, Luke Sullivan, Tyler Ramm, Nick Ramm, Drew Lewis Keddy, Jack Board, Patrick Riley, Aidan Riley, Sam Schiffman, Drew Stanton, Sean Coughlin, Nick Pascale. Eight of these players have been playing on this varsity team since they were in eighth grade.

One of the starting sophomores, Cam Sullivan, ended the season leading the team in points last year. He said, “I just want to get far into the playoffs. The kids on this team deserve it. All we did from last season to this is improve and I think that that improvement will be present. People better get ready for the show.”

With tryouts this week, the team is hoping to create a team that will help them reach their goals and bring them into another successful season.

The team’s first scrimmage is December 2nd against Holliston. The team’s first regular season game is the first round of the Boro’s Cup against Wachusett on December 12th.
