Westborough High School senior Peter LaMountain is this year’s starting quarterback for the Westborough Rangers football team. LaMountain has been a quarterback throughout his high school career. LaMountain’s football career first started in the fifth grade and his interest in the game was first sparked through friends encouraging him to play. The video game Madden also contributed to his interest in the sport.

LaMountain states that some of his favorite aspects of the game consist of “the thrill, the intensity, and never knowing what the outcome of each game will be.”

He also appreciates the friends he has made throughout his football career and how his position has helped him to acquire a sense of leadership on the field.

So far the Ranger’s football record is 2-3. This season LaMountain has thrown for 405 yards, has two passing touchdowns, and has thrown three interceptions.

In previous years, LaMountain sported number 18, but was superstitious regarding his number and reverted back to his former number 9. LaMountain believes that he plays best as number 9 on the field. LaMountain listens to music to get pumped up before games and believes that this pre-game ritual also contributes to performing well.

He also mentions an influential moment with his coach from last season before overtime in Marlborough when Coach Tinglhof told him to “give this all you got, son.”

His hopes for the team this year consist of winning and unity. He also states that “I value fun on and off the field.”

LaMountain feels as if there’s no need for him to continue with the sport at a college level. He describes himself as a “simple man” and a “team player.”
