With less than a week left of high school, the feeling is very very bittersweet. A large majority of the class of 2018 has been together for the past thirteen years. I have attended Westborough Public Schools since kindergarten, and the thought of not having this next year has not yet settled in my stomach.

I remember my first day of high school four years ago when it seemed like the seniors were so much older than me. It seemed like senior year was light years away. For most of high school, I was always counting down to the end of each day, then the end of each week, then the end of each year. For most of high school, I couldn’t wait for it to be over. Now I am a senior with two days remaining of high school, and I am devastated that it is over.

I know a lot of people say they hated high school, but I honestly loved it. I loved being able to see my best friends every day and interacting with all my classmates and teachers. WHS became my family. There were a lot of “big high school moments” that I know I will remember for the rest of my life, such as prom, the first day of senior year, and many of the senior events that will be happening in the next week and a half.

However, I am going to miss the smaller parts of high school the most. Whether it’s goofing off at swim practice, “going to the bathroom” so I could wander the halls with my friends, or hanging out in the yearbook room at break, I am going to miss it all. I am going to miss eating large amounts of food with the swim team and doing silly stuff with my best friend since fourth grade, Emily Hannan. I am going to miss you so much, Em.

There are a lot of people I want to thank for helping me throughout high school. Thank you to my mom, my dad, Justin, and Caitlin for always supporting me. Mom, I am going to miss telling you about my day and watching you laugh as I tell you all of the high school gossip, and dad, I am going to miss answering your phone calls during class.  Justin, I am going to miss driving to swim practice with you every single day and watching you annihilate at swim meets, and Caitlin, I am going to miss hearing about the amazing things you do in field hockey and lacrosse, and watching your games (even though they are painfully long). I love you all so much, and I am going to miss you next year.

Thank you, Mrs. Stoker for being a fantastic teacher and role model for me since the first day of my freshman year, and thank you to Lobby-O for being the single most enjoyable thing I have been a part of at WHS. Thank you, Mrs. Costa for making math class entertaining and helping me understand pretty much every part of math.

Although I am sad about high school ending, I am excited to be attending Wellesley College next year where I will be studying economics and swimming on the swim and dive team.

Thank you, WHS. Good luck 2018, can’t wait to see you all do amazing things 🙂
