With the start of school comes the start of fall sports which means the start of boys golf. This season, the team had a rocky start losing to Shrewsbury 28 to 26. However, they redeemed themselves by beating Marlborough 36 to 18; their hope is to continue winning for the rest of the season.

Senior Aidan Burke has returned to the sport for his final year here at Westborough High School. Burke played on the JV golf team his freshman and sophomore year and then played football his junior year. Over the summer, he said he played a lot of golf and decided he wanted to play for his senior year. Burke says, “I knew the team was going to be strong this year and it’s a great group of guys so I just wanted to be a part of it.”

Returning captain and now senior Jon Rodenbush is feeling pretty confident about the team this year. He comments , “I’m excited to play my last year of golf here at WHS, but I’m also sad that it’s coming to an end. I do think as a team we can win Leagues this year and we can go to states as a team which would be a great way to end my high school golf career.”

Rodenbush also says, “I know Aidan Burke will be a great addition to the team and will really help us achieve our goals for the season.”

The boys next match is away against Algonqin on Wednesday, September 20, at 3 p.m.
