Dear WHS Community,
Rejoice! As we begin another school year together be assured your school newspaper The Lobby Observer is ready to share your news with the community and the world (see lobbyobserver.org). That's right, you can take pride that Aunt Margery, who lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico, can read a recap of the school play you were in last weekend. Grandpa Joe can see a video clip of your game winning soccer goal from his home in Florida. This is all made possible because you attend (or, for our WHS parents, your son/daughter, students attend(s)) a high school, which has an online school newspaper!

There is a certain apprehension when sequels to well-known movies come out; The Matrix sequels were nothing like the original nor were the sequels of Spiderman. It is only orthodox for this same apprehension to hold for “Iron Man 2”. Would it be as good as the well-made “Iron Man”, or, like most other cases, would it seem like a desperate ploy for more money? Well unfortunately, the latter held true.
Yes, there were some additions of “A” list actors such as Mickey Rourke, Don Cheadle, and Scarlett Johansson. And their presence, certainly made the movie more entertaining and p

The girls’ golf program at Westborough High School has grown significantly since its start nine years ago. Coaches Sandy Robichaud and Laurie Kinney are proud to be behind this successful program.
The team started to reach full stride in 2008 when they had an undefeated season, with a record of 14-0. The girls went on to the state championships to earn silver, finishing just three strokes behind Notre Dame of Hingham High School. In 2009, the Rangers had another strong season, with a record of 15-0 and again taking second at the state championships at the end of the season. These undefeated records have earned the Rangers the league title both years. Coach Robichaud hopes “to get back to states” in 2010.
This season proposed new challenges, especially after the team graduated

Westborough High School’s ULEAD group is an exclusive group of students who are against destructive decisions. This group gathers to discuss issues that pertain to what they believe is right. The group members, including the leaders and the students, decide which activities that they would find fun that doesn’t involve any peer pressure of substance abuse.
The members of ULEAD are strongly against the use of alcohol and drugs. WHS Physical Education teacher and ULEAD co-advisor Mr. Rota sees these teenagers as the school’s “role models”. The kids feel that it’s not necessary to abuse alcohol and drugs in order to have fun. They find fun things to do as a group that doesn’t involve these things.

Mr. Cullen, a History and Psychology teacher at Westborough High School didn’t always want to become a teacher. In fact he admits he “didn’t know what he wanted to be, just not a teacher”.
Interestingly, Mr. Cullen is an alum of WHS. He participated in sports as he was offensive left tackle for the football team and threw shot put and discus for the track team.
After high school, Mr. Cullen went on to a preparatory year at the Naval Academy in Newport, Rhode Island. At the Academy, Mr. Cullen says he was able to grow and have another year to decide what he wanted to do. He then went on to earn a degree in Psychology from Worcester State. He later earned another degree in History from the University of Prince Edward Island.

Ms. Jasmin’s interest was never towards teaching because she wanted to study Sports Marketing. She received her education from Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island.

Is she super human or just super determined? Jill Goyette, of the WHS Special Education department, seems to find a way to do it all. Whether it’s at Westborough High School or just in her spare time, Ms. Goyette is always helping other people.

As the head of the S.T.A.R.S program at WHS, she has taken on the duty of helping certain students with emotional needs or learning disabilities take full advantage of their time here at school.

He busily arranges the mangled papers before him as I exhale nervously and glance at the wrinkled sheet in my hands. I excitedly await an opportunity to ask him the questions scrawled upon that sheet, for I can’t even imagine his impending answers. Even the simplest and most basic inquiries are quick to yield laugh-inducing responses from the tall, bearded English teacher.
The interview commences, and the charismatic Mr. Myers wastes no time in demonstrating his engaging teaching style and uniquely brilliant sense of humor; spitting subtle jokes like sunflower seeds with a cool calmness yet unusual energy.
